The people who had old and dilapidated houses were the ones who were
most affected by the floods and rains. Many people were looking forward to the
financial help to rebuild/repair their houses or construct new houses. To reach out
to more people in building the houses, the donor agency and Diocese of Gulbarga
decided to discuss with the beneficiaries and convince them to contribute 50% of
the expenses towards house construction. Through the process of studying and
identifying of most needy beneficiaries, it was decided to help 16 beneficiaries
who were willing to contribute 50% towards the construction of their own houses.
Though the construction work went beyond the stipulated time due to COVID 19
pandemic the 16 houses were ready to live in by July 2021. The Arch Bishop Rt.
Rev. Peter Machado along with Rev. Robert Michael Miranda blessed and
inaugurated the houses during the solemn Eucharistic Celebration held on
17.7.2021 and handed over the keys to the head of each family to whom the house
belongs. The joy of owning a new house was written on the faces of each of the
beneficiaries which were beyond words.
