Cancer prevention is achieved through primary, secondary and tertiary methods. Primary cancer prevention is achieved through two mechanisms: the promotion of health and wellness and the reduction of risks known to contribute to cancer development. Primary prevention aims to reverse or inhibit the carcinogenic process through modifications in a patient’s diet or environment. Therefore awareness is created in the villages to have a healthy diet. To make a kitchen garden at home and to cultivate fresh vegetables. Secondary cancer prevention includes screening and early detection. Screening for cancer refers to checking for the presence of disease in populations at risk and early detection is defined as testing for cancer when no symptoms are present. Therefore whenever the cancer screening camps are conducted in villages, those who are having the symptoms are referred to the good hospitals for better treatment.
Secondary prevention seeks to detect cancer at the earliest possible stage when the disease is most likely to be treated successfully. So the social workers are visiting the villages and bringing awareness on the Cancer disease .The campaign about the cancer is awareness is created in SHG’s in villages, in Schools and in GP meetings. During the awareness programs the pamphlets on Cancer disease is distributed to the people. To help the economically poor cancer patients a little contribution also collected through a mite box during the cancer awareness programs.
